The Lancashire Enterprise Zone, based at Warton and Samlesbury, was approved in autumn 2011 and is focussed on the advanced engineering and manufacturing, aerospace and automotive sectors. It will form a centre of excellence for high technology manufacturing and should attract organisations, which are directly involved in the industry or provide support services.
Business benefits include Business Rates relief, a simplified planning process and superfast broadband.
The Samlesbury site is located close to the M6 motorway and is part of the Preston, South Ribble and Lancashire City Deal. It is supported in the Central Lancashire Core Strategy and the draft South Ribble Site Allocations and Development Management Plan.
The Lancashire Enterprise Partnership (LEP) manages the Enterprise Zone through a Governance Committee in association with BAE Systems (the site owner) and will assess investment enquiries.
